Decisions, decisions, decisions...what move to make?

Oh the quandaries we find ourselves in from time to time.  Often we've dug the hole so deep we can't figure out how to get out and then frustration sets in and you wonder if it's really worth getting out of.  I can't think of a time in life when we aren't going to be faced with making decisions.  Some will be simple, some complex, and others will be down right mind boggling.  There are those who run from making the difficult decisions and others who thrive on the moment and often fabricate situations that warrant a decision.  No matter where you fall on the spectrum, you are going to make a zillion decisions in your life time, wouldn't it be nice to always have the feeling that you are in control of the decisions you make?

There have been so many times in my life when I have run away from making the difficult decisions. It wasn't that I couldn't make them, more often than not it was because I didn't want to make them.  I knew what I had to do, problem was I didn't really want to do the one thing that would have solved all my problems.  Now I know I'm not the only person who has been in this position, and so today I want to encourage you to take the big step and do what needs to be done.

What stops people from making a decision?  In my opinion, I would have to say that fear is what stops most people.  Fear of what might happen.  Fear of what you might be leaving behind.  Fear of what you might be missing out on.  The list of those things we fear when it comes to making a decision is a mile long.  However, allowing fear to dictate your actions, or lack of action, is one of the worst things you can do.  We as humans have a tendency to make things worse then they are.  We come up with all kinds of scenarios and when it's all said and done most of these scenarios never play out.  We often ponder a decision, often taking years and years, and then we kick ourself in the ass when everything works out and we wonder why we wasted all that time with worry and fear.

So how long are you going to put off making a decision?  You see, making a decision to make a decision is often the hardest thing you might do, but doing nothing is never going to change the situation you might be facing.  I get how hard it can be to pull the trigger.  I completely understand that we often put off making decisions because of how it might affect others, or worse yet how it might affect us.  The bottom line is that until such time as you move forward, what ever situation you may be facing is only going to get worse.  Slowly but surely you will spiral out of control and then what you were originally facing is going to be a hundred times worse.  I'm not trying to prophesy doom and gloom.  What I'm trying to do is encourage you to do what is right for you, and move ahead in those things that are going to serve you best.

When it comes to making a decision the one thing that should be front and center is what will it mean to you.  If you do not put your best interest ahead of all other things, then you are going to be making the biggest mistake of your life.  Putting yourself first is not selfishness.  Putting yourself first is allowing you to be the person you were always intended to be, and anything less then being your authentic self is going to rob the world of a huge gift.  As much as you might want to help the world, you can't be all things to all people until you are all things to yourself.  If you are not whole and complete then how can you give to others what they need?  There are people who make the decision to do for themselves, but their motive is anything but pure.  Their desire to have it all is not because they can do good with what they have, but to feel superior to the rest of mankind.  Being in a place of knowing who you are is a healthy place.  Knowing your true purpose is a healthy place.  All decisions you make should be focused on knowing the real you.  When you decide to get to know the real you then and only then can you affect the change that this world is in need of.

I'm not sure what you might be facing today, but I do know, as Mr. Rohn says, "You cannot make progress without making decisions."  Yes the outcome right now might be unknown to you.  The ramifications of whatever decision you make might seem scary, but know this:  there is nothing that you do right or wrong that can't be looked at again and fixed if need be.  I've made some huge mistakes in my life, but I'm still here right now, and I'm still doing what I love most in life.  It would be great if we never had to face making a difficult decision, but each of us have been there before now and will be there again someday.  Right or wrong, good or bad, it matters not.  What matters is that you stood courageously and did what had to be done.

Yes decisions can be scary, but not nearly as scary as what will come about if you fail to make a decision that needs to be made.  Fear is never the right motivator when it comes to making decisions, so take fear out of the picture.  Know that all things work together in the Universe to get you to the point you need to be at.  You can always change a decision made, what you can't change is what happens when you refuse to make a decision, big or small.  Rest in the knowledge that all good will come from a decision you make, when that decision is made from a good place, and that place is always your heart.  Think about it...
