If I were a Super hero, what would I do?

I have asked myself this question so many times.  I have had dreams about this so many times.  I have wondered what life would be like if this was me and how I would change the world, many, many times.  Truth be told we are all super heroes.  Now we might not have the ability to fly like Superman, or to run like Flash, but we are still super heroes.

Inside each and every person is a desire to do something unique and almost super human.  To some it is to garner the praise and admiration of others.  To some it is to be there if for no other reason then to bring help to what may be a helpless situation.  To others still there is just a desire to want to make a positive change in an environment where change is greatly needed.  What ever your persuasion is, being a super hero is what moves and motivates other to do good works.

If I were a superhero my first act would be to rid the world of needless violence and turn it into a place where people knew of the possibilities and opportunities awaiting all.  I would eradicate hunger, poverty, and no one would ever be alone wondering if the world has forgotten about them.  If I were a superhero I would turn hate to love, anger to joy, and uncertainty to knowing.  If I were a superhero I would...well wait a minute, maybe I am a superhero.  Now not superhero in the sense of flying, or traveling at speeds of lightening, but superhero none-the-less, as I have a desire and a drive to change the face of this planet, and change it for the better.

At the heart of every superhero is a determination to leave this planet a little better then it was when you first got here.  At the heart of every superhero is the desire to see that others have a knowledge that life can be grand and that they can be a part of the grandness.  At the heart of every superhero is a drive to ensure that no one is left out of the game of life and that they have just as much right to happiness as anyone else.  I have the heart of a super hero and if you look closely at your life I hope and pray that you will come to the conclusion that you have this same heart.  A heart to look at situations and find the best in them.  A heart to know that today will bring you opportunity and all you need to do is to take action.  A heart that says I am good enough and there is a reason I am the way I am.

If you have ever dreamt of being a super hero I will assure you that the reason this is happening is because there is something you should be doing, but as of this minute have not done it.   If you are anything like me, and I feel as if there are many people like me out there, then in your heart you desire that all people would know peace, joy, and happiness.  You can be a super hero to almost anyone: your neighbor, who needs a little help with their crumbling home, your family member who just needs to know you are thinking of them.  What about that person walking down the street who looks like they just lost their best friend, what about a smile from you and a happy greeting?   This simple act, which cost you nothing, can have an impact on another life half the world away, twenty years from now.  Please do not make the mistake of thinking that what you do on any given day will not affect the life of someone.  Often the little things we do will have some of the greatest impacts on lives down the road, and you may never even know about it.

Yes I would love to be able to fly like Superman.  I would like to be there to heal the wounds of those innocent children hurt by war, when war was nothing they ever wanted, nor could prevent.  I would love to share love with all people and show them that ego is what causes conflict and that ego, once under wraps, could prevent many of the problems we see from day to day.  I would very much love to share peace, joy, and happiness with the rest of the world so they might get a short rest from the burdens they have been carrying for far too many years.

To me, being a superhero is nothing more then wanting the best for everyone, and being willing to do your part in helping out someone in need.  Today is a great day to come to the understanding that we all have the ability to be Super Heroes.  You can be a hero to your kids, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers.  You can be a hero to the stranger who just needs to know someone out there is loving enough to show compassion to someone who has not been shown it for quite sometime.  You can be a hero to yourself by simply recognizing that you have something very valuable to give to others, and no matter what others think, you will not stop caring, loving, or showing compassion to others.  We need to understand that showing love and compassion, while not widely looked upon as a thing that someone would do for a stranger, is exactly what we should be doing, and doing every day. There are hurting people out there who simply need you to take your place as a super hero and display the compassion and love that someone else has been unwilling to display.  Remember, it is the little things in life that will often change a life, and the life that will change will be yours.  So put on your cape and begin to display that super human quality of compassion and love, and change a planet one life at a time.
